A regular meeting of the Board of Directors was called to order by Alexis Highsmith, Chairperson, at 6:10 p.m. Other Board members present included: Robin Sadek, Regina Martin, Clarence Ashe, Jessica Philpotts, Sharon Bender, Sean Hutchinson 6:28 p.m.
Administrative staff present: Bill Troy, Niki Nash, Oscar Grant
Absent: Dave Thompson, Tony Bures, Linda Baylor, Flora Newton, Rona Scott

- Motion to approve the BOD minutes dated 11/16/2011
R. Martin/C. Ashe: Unanimous - Motion to make an addition to the agenda
R. Martin/C. Ashe: Unanimous - Motion to approve Alison Given as the teacher representative on the Board of Directors
R. Sadek/R. Marin: Unanimous - Motion to adopt option one of the proposed 2012/13 organizational chart, which includes the addition of an Executive Director, Global Studies Coordinator, Math and Literacy Coaches
R. Martin/C. Ashe: Unanimous - Motion to approve the formation of an Administrative Search Committee, which will consist of the following members: A. Highsmith, D. Thompson, R. Martin, R. Sadek, and A. Given

Curriculum Committee
The curriculum committee met to review two math programs, Everday Math and Math in Focus.
Information items
- Dave Thompson attended a CABE workshop regarding school law and Board Chairs at Shipman and Goodman, please contact Dave if you are interested in more information.
- The smartboards are being installed in the classrooms and the staff is being trained. It was suggested that two Saturdays be utilized in lieu of the two missed professional development days because of the hurricane in the summer. These days will be used as training days for the smartboards. When the days are determined the board will be invited.
- Joanne Lutz from the CT Charter School Network will be presenting at the January meeting.
- A very big “thank you” to Kim Boyd-Hunter, Reshica Newton, Jessica Huston, and Mrs. Nash for organizing and distributing the holiday baskets and toys to families in need this season.
- A very big “congratulations” to Alexis Highsmith on her engagement!
